Our Why.

In 2019, I reached a point where I couldn't ignore how poorly businesses were treating Black people while getting away with it. This was a confusing time for me because I felt as though I was a single drop in a pond, unsure of how I as an individual could make a difference. But through further research and introspection, I came to the realization that if change was going to happen at all, why not have it start with me?

As I started digging deeper, I discovered just how much Black people contribute to EVERYTHING—from skincare and hair care to consumer goods and services like fitness training and doula support, and quite literally everything in between. This realization sparked a drive within me, and spurred on a promise that I would make to myself; if I could buy it from a Black-owned business, I would.

That's why I created Black Owned with Becks. I want to help shift the narrative for other like-minded individuals the same way I did for myself. BOWB is designed to help those who want to buy Black but may not know where to start. BOWB a welcoming space to ask questions, learn, and build a community around supporting each other and our ventures. Black Owned with Becks is here to show that buying Black is not just a choice—it's a journey and a lifestyle!
