For the first segment of "We're Making History", we are highlighting Jasmine Lawrence. Her work in STEM and in the beauty industry is truly inspiring. Here are some interesting things to note about this Forbes30 Under 30 Honoree.
Jasmine Lawrence is the CEO and Founder of Eden Body Works, a natural body & hair care company that specializes in hair care products that nurture natural hair. You can find many of her products at Target, Walmart and Sally's. If I had to give my personal recommendation, it would be to try the Peppermint Tea Tree Line. It makes for such a refreshing wash day.
Jasmine is not just the owner of her own hair and body care brand but she is also an engineer working in the tech space. She has worked on notable projects at Microsoft , including being the the User Experience Project Manager for the X-Box One launch. ( If you use Clubs by X-Box Live, she put her stamp on that too!) She has also worked as the Robotics and AI Product Manager for the Everyday Robots Project by Google. These robots are used to learn how to help people in their everyday lives. And this is just some of Jasmine's work in the corporate space! She also has worked on some amazing personal tech projects that you can read more about on her website
Why did I choose Jasmine Lawrence to highlight this Black History Month? Because she has found a way to bridge the gap between tech and beauty HER WAY! Jasmine saw a problem in the lack of diversity in the hair care space at age 11, and literally became the change she wanted to see. She has opened doors to using tech for helping others and building social interactions. I am truly inspired as an engineer and growing entrepreneur. I have always struggled with balancing and choosing between what I love and what I'm good at. But Jasmine has shown that you don't have to choose between your skills and your passions, you can do both and excel.
